A nice and wallet-friendly option to buy your everyday wine
I love Isola, this Milanese quarter has slowly become one of my favorite places to hang out because it gives you the feeling that you're wandering around its streets with retro-filtered glasses on: everything you see looks retro (not in the annoying hipster-ish way, though), the streets, the signs, the cars, the shops. Same happened when we bumped into this tiny wine shop called Vinario 11.
First of all, let me explain the term "vino sfuso". It can be defined as 'draught wine', the wine you take directly from the steel tanks. So places that sell vino sfuso do this: you bring your ouw bottle or container (or buy it from them) and they will fill it from the cask with the wine of your choice - isn't it the greatest thing you've ever heard???
That's Vinario's business, this small cozy shop (in the shadow of the "vertical forest" buildings) has some 5-7 tanks with different wines, reds, whites and a great rosé, you bring your bottles and they'll fill them for you at an affordable price per liter, going from 3 to almost 5 euros per liter. This is very useful if you regularly drink wine at home and you don't feel like opening an important bottle everytime - also, remember, if the wine stays open too long it might lose its' aromas (that's rarely the case at our place, but still...). It is also useful if you're throwing a party and you need lots of wine without spending too much.
They also sell some bottles from small Italian wineries and they have a couple of tables in case you want to sit and taste the wines. The wines in the tanks change every now and then but there's always something for all tastes (Barbera, Aglianico, Sauvignon, Friulano, Montepulciano, etc.).
Definitely a good find in this cool neighborhood, we'll be visiting again soon, and you should too!
